The Kiltwalk, Glasgow Scotland.

Sunday 27th April saw around 7000 participants take to the streets, public parks and cycleways to take part in the 2014 Kiltwalk, Kiltwalkers raise funds to support Scotlands leading charities including, AberlourCash for KidsYorkhill Childrens CharityCHAS and many many more, last year charities benefited from over 1 million pounds being raised and 2014 looks all set to smash those records.

This years route was slightly different from 2013s with the event starting at The Hydro on the Clydeside of Glasgow and eventually finishing on the shores of Loch Lomond, a tough 23 mile walk but made all the easier with many pit stops for refreshments, encouragement and friendly banter, there were also plenty of marshalls making sure no one took a wrong turn and they were on hand to offer any form of help they could, I noticed myself while walking parts of the route that there were plenty of people with bin bags encouraging the walkers to bin their rubbish properly.

As with all Kiltwalks there are walkers from all walks of life, there were lots of wheelchair groups and certainly more than last year there were lots of dogs, I know the animals along with their owners will tonight be having a well earned rest.

The Kiltwalk is designed so anyone can take part regardless of their fitness level, there is the full walk at 26 miles, a 13 mile half kilty and a 10k, so definitely something for all levels.

They even have their own Kiltwalk tartan, a nice wee change to add to the mix of bright colours we see on the walks.

Here are a few photographs from today, where the sun stayed out, the rain stayed away and the smiles were as big at the end as they were at the start...
